Endowing the future
of St. Paul's School for Girls
Why endowment is important
Endowment gifts provide resources that enable our school to enhance our outstanding educational program in perpetuity.
Building the school’s endowment is one of our highest strategic priorities. Like all independent schools, SPSG relies on income from endowment funds to provide support for ongoing programs such as scholarship, programming, and faculty chairs. Essentially, endowment acts as the school’s savings account; funds are invested by the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees with the goals of producing both yearly income and appreciation of the value of the original gift. Because gifts to endowment are in perpetuity, donors directly impact the school now and for future generations. A strong endowment strengthens our school.
Gifts to our endowment may be unrestricted or restricted to a particular fund or area of school life. Endowed funds can support the development of innovations in education, athletic or performing arts programs, provide financial support for scholarships, and allow us to offer competitive salaries, rewards and opportunities for professional growth for our faculty.
Unrestricted Endowment is an investment in our mission. Gifts of $25,000 or more to unrestricted endowment provides the school with a solid level of financial security and flexibility. Gifts to the endowment send a strong message to the entire community that donors believe in our school.
Financial Aid is crucial to the school’s ability to recruit a talented and diverse student body. For a gift of $100,000, a scholarship may be named for the donor, a friend, or loved one. A gift of approximately $600,000 would provide sufficient income for full financial aid for one student annually.
