Dear Families, Alumnae, and Friends of St. Paul's School for Girls:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am writing to inform you that the 2018-19 academic year will be Penny Evins' final year as Head of School, as she has advised the Board that she has been offered a new position for the 2019-20 school year.
During Penny's tenure, St. Paul's School for Girls has enjoyed great success. Our school has experienced healthy growth in enrollment, unlike both local and national trends in independent schools. This is due in no small part to our well-deserved, enhanced reputation under Penny's leadership. We remain grateful to Penny for her leadership in positioning SPSG as the independent girls' school of choice in the Baltimore area.
From the moment Penny arrived on campus, she became entrenched in all aspects of campus life and committed herself to making our incredible learning environment even more robust. She has introduced many innovative programs at SPSG, such as off-campus real world experiences for Upper School students and exciting new electives to enhance our Middle School curriculum. She has also been a strong advocate and leader for improving coordination with SPS.
The Board of Trustees has already begun the process of identifying SPSG's 9th Head of School. Current trustees Kelly Nocher Riepe '01 and Carl Pohlhaus P'23 have agreed to co-chair the search committee. They will write to you once they have a full search committee in place to share more information about the search process.
We look forward to celebrating Penny's contributions to St. Paul's School for Girls and to honoring her, her husband, Sam, and their children, Sam '22 SPS and June Friend '23 SPSG, for their energetic and unwavering support. I hope that each of you will join in these festivities.
Thank you for your continued loyalty and support of SPSG.
