The Memory Project
Students in Mrs. Rickman's Upper School visual art class created portraits of Syrian children currently living in a refugee camp. Our girls worked from photos, and these portraits have been shared with the children at the camp, so that they may have something personal, unique, and created just for them.
This project is in support of the Memory Project (memoryproject.org), a charitable nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create and donate portraits to youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as violence, disasters, extreme poverty, neglect, and loss of parents. Their goal is that the portraits will "help the children feel valued, important, and know that many people care about their well being, and to act as meaningful pieces of personal history in the future."
