SPSG Named a 2017 Baltimore Sun Media Group Top Workplace!
Posted 12/03/2017 02:55PM

Dear SPSG Community,

We at SPSG are thrilled to have been awarded a Top Workplaces honor by The Baltimore Sun for the second year in a row, advancing from #35 to #15 in the small-sized business category! The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered earlier this year, and we are honored that our faculty and staff shared their positive sentiments about our community.

In addition to a feature in today's issue of The Baltimore Sun newspaper, we will be celebrating our achievement this week on social media, sharing the many reasons that our faculty and staff love working at SPSG. Below, four faculty and staff members share their appreciation for SPSG to kick off the week!

On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, thank you for your enduring support of the SPSG community.

Penny B. Evins
Head of School

"St. Paul's School for Girls offers an environment that gives employees at all levels the freedom to be creative and innovative, while also providing a structure that encourages professional growth. The work day begins and ends with professional and personal energy and enthusiasm. Working at SPSG is like being a part of a large family of supportive colleagues who truly enjoy each other's company."

– Phyllis Flenniken, Upper School Mathematics/Economics Teacher

"I love working at SPSG because it gives me the opportunity to keep our children safe while being a positive role model. It is wonderful to work with a group of people and students that are kind, gentle, and caring. It is also great that I am allowed to make changes in security protocols that will continue to keep SPSG a safe place for everyone to learn, teach, and play."

– Jim Shea, Director of Safety and Security

"An authentically caring and collegial workplace sometimes can be hard to find, but SPSG is just that – supportive, positive, and continually looking for opportunities to make it even better. Yes, we do get work done – a ton of it every day. Our teaming with colleagues and a supportive administrative team allows us all to grow and succeed together in building a stronger community for our students and their families, as well as for our employees."

– Cynthia Garland, Executive Assistant to the Head of School and Liaison to the Board of Trustees

"I value working at a place where people are happy. It seems like such a simple word, but true happiness is hard to achieve and maintain. However, as you walk through the building, what resonates are the sounds of joy: colleagues who are happy to see one another, who say hello, who ask how you are doing and truly mean it. I appreciate working with colleagues who are caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable educators and who take pride in their work. If you want proof of that you need only ask any student. They will gladly share why and how SPSG is a magical place because of its educators."

– Naa-Adei Kotey, Academic Dean
