Class of 2020 Commencement
Ereni Gleason Malfa '89, Head of School
On Friday, June 19, Head of School Ereni Gleason Malfa '89 spoke at the class of 2020 commencement ceremony. "I am so thrilled that we are able to have this special in-person ceremony to mark the end of your years at SPSG." During her speech, Mrs. Malfa remarked upon how when the school transitioned to distance learning, the senior class worked hard to remain connected, retain beloved senior traditions, and find "virtual ways to lead, support, and guide" through uncharted territory, and how they have bonded through the hardships they have experienced.
"Your class is forever bonded."
– Ereni Gleason Malfa '89
Claire Foley '20, Class of 2020 Student Speaker
Claire Foley '20 was selected by her classmates to speak on behalf of the Class of 2020. She spoke of their journey throughout years at SPSG and the importance of "showing up." Whether it was a Ring Day parking lot party, caring for a classmate at Echo Hill, cooking meals for friends suffering a loss, helping each other academically, or cheering on classmates at athletic games, the class of 2020 never failed to show up and care for one other.
"Regardless of the circumstances, our class has been there for each other. Showing up, and showing that we care...When the going got tough in the spring of our senior year, the distance between us did not hinder our dedication to our role as leaders of the school."
"Despite all the unknown factors, the class of 2020 never failed to meet every challenge with confidence and determination."
– Claire Foley '20
The Senior Gift
Each year, seniors and their parents participate in the funding of a special Senior Gift. This year, the Class of 2020 and their families contributed over $90,000 for two new laser projectors and new soft seating in the Student Commons.
