Parents' Association
Welcome to the Parents' Association of St. Paul’s School for Girls!
Parents play a vital role in the life of the school. Whether in acting as a Class Coordinator, volunteering in the Swamp (the school bookstore), or serving on a special events committee, every parent is invited to participate.
The Parents' Association is the governing parent organization working with the school administration to enhance a sense of community, promote involvement in activities and events, and improve communication and cooperation within the school family. The PA is open to all parents and legal guardians of students enrolled at SPSG. Throughout the school year, all parents are invited and urged to attend the PA meetings, which take place on the first Thursday of each month, beginning October 4, 2007, at 8:15 a.m. in the SPSG Trustee Room. The dates for these are printed in the Student Handbook and Roster. The Parents' Board meets monthly.
Several volunteer-powered events, organized by the Parents' Association, are held during the school year:
Octoberfest
This annual fall festival is held during Green/White Reunion Weekend and features activities, refreshments, and various craft vendors. It is a fun day for parents, students, faculty and staff, and alumnae.
SPSG Valentine Party
This event is held in the winter each year. It is a time for students to have a special afternoon with their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and special friends. The theme varies from year to year.
SPSG Spring Bull Roast
A Bull Roast is held in early May and features picnic food, music provided by a popular DJ, and dance contests.
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day
Each class is responsible for hosting one faculty/staff appreciation lunch during the school year. Check with your class coordinator to see when your class is hosting.
Speakers
The PA brings special speakers to campus for evening meetings with parents, including award-winning writer Taylor Branch, Dr. Harold Shinitzky (noted authority on adolescent alcohol and drug abuse) and SuEllen Fried (noted authority on bullying).
the epistle
The PA underwrites the cost of mailing a copy of the epistle, the SPSG student newspaper, to every SPSG family.
The Parents’ Association collects annual dues through the SPSG business office. It also holds a bi-annual fundraising event the year SPSG’s Gala is not being held.
The SPSG Parents’ Association has a vested interest in SPSG and is an important member of the school family. Its members work hard to help make school a friendly haven for students, parents, faculty, and staff. We invite participation and suggestions from parents and encourage attendance at meetings and events.
