Turf Field
St. Paul's School for Girls is proud to announce that it is the first girls’ school in the area to open a turf field!
The new field gives SPSG a distinct presence at the entrance of the campus; it accommodates tournament play; and it provides rental opportunities. The initial $1.3 Million project has been totally funded through voluntary contributions and construction was completed in the fall of 2007. We continue to seek contributions to enhance the field with landscaping, a state of the art scoreboard, spectator seating, and team benches.
The field will be dedicated on Saturday, April 19, 2008. At that time, all donors will be recognized. The school’s Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will follow.
Why Turf?
- Gives the opportunity for all middle and upper school athletes to compete in soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse on a state-of-the-art surface.
- Significantly lowers maintenance costs and provides fewer practice and game cancellations due to weather.
- Provides new rental income and increased visibility for the school.
- Offers a playing surface that allows for better ball handling and faster game pace, easing the transition from high school to college sports.
- Keeps SPSG competitive with schools who have or are considering installing turf.
