Letter from the Head of School
As the end of 2013 grows near and many of us are in the thick of holiday shopping, I thought it only appropriate to share thoughts about giving. Having spent over two decades in the field of development, I have individuals question me regularly, "What do you do - ask people for money?" My response is always, "I develop relationships and I love what I do!"
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word philanthropy as the practice of giving money and time to help make life better for other people. The definition unfortunately does not describe the emotion a donor experiences when they make an impact on something that they truly believe in. That feeling is the reason I continue to "ask people for money." My job entails getting to know people and identifying the right funding priorities for SPSG's philanthropists.Read More
