Affording SPSG / Financial Aid
Financial Aid applications for the '08 - '09 school year are due by Janaury 15, 2008. Please call the school at (443) 632-1002, to request a financial aid application.
The Financial Aid Program at St. Paul's School for Girls enables qualified students to attend who would not have access to our community without financial assistance. Financial aid grants currently go to about 17% of the students, representing families in the low and middle income groups. It is not always possible to provide the full level of financial aid needed by all qualifying applicants. The financial aid budget is limited, and preference is given to returning families.

Who may apply for financial aid?
Any student applying for admission to the school, or currently enrolled in St. Paul's School for Girls, may apply for financial aid. Applications for admission and financial aid are handled separately, by two different committees, and their decisions are arrived at independently.
How large are the grants?
Financial aid grants do not have to be repaid to the school, and they range in size depending on the family's need and the availability of funds. The average grant approximates half tuition.
Do we qualify for financial aid?
To determine the amount of financial assistance needed, an applicant's family completes a Parents' Financial Statement which is processed by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid. The Financial Aid Committee of St. Paul's School for Girls uses this information, in addition to other information supplied by the family, as a guide in allocating financial aid. Consideration will be given to family size, income, expenses, assets, liabilities, extenuating circumstances, and priorities for spending. We expect both parents to be employed unless there are extenuating circumstances. All financial aid awards are based on need, not academic or athletic prowess and are made relative to the needs of other SPSG families.
Assistance in completing the Parent Financial Statement, or with any part of the process related to financial aid, is available from the Director of Financial Aid at 443-632-1030.
Will the financial aid grants be renewed in subsequent years?
Financial Aid grants may be renewed each year provided the student remains in good standing. The grants must be applied for annually. The family is required to furnish information regarding their financial circumstances each year so that the committee can allocate the award, making whatever adjustment in financial aid is necessitated by changes in the family circumstances and tuition increases.
What is the policy regarding divorced or separated parents?
Since divorced or separated parents are both obligated to contribute to the education of their children, a Parents' Financial Statement is required from both parents. When the custodial parent has remarried, the assets of the stepparent will also be considered.
How do I apply for financial aid?
Application materials for financial aid can be obtained from the Admission Office or the Financial Aid Office of St. Paul's School for Girls. Application for renewal of financial aid grants will be mailed automatically to students currently receiving aid. Before January 15, 2008, the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) must be completed and mailed to the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid, using the envelope enclosed. Before mailing the original copy of the PFS form, a copy must be made and sent to the Financial Aid Director of St. Paul's School for Girls.
In addition, a copy of your 2007 income tax forms are due by Aprily 15, 2008. All requested items must be received before the designated deadlines in order to be considered for a financial aid grant. If forms are received late, funds may no longer be available, even for qualifying families.
Notification regarding financial aid awards will be sent in March, 2008.
